In the far future, mankind lives safe and secure behind the Chronos Ring - an automatic defense system that encircles the area of space occupied by human beings. The Ring keeps out all of humanity's enemies - in particular, a vicious race of reptilians known as the Parsnaak.
On the outer fringe of human-occupied space is the planet Muse, an entire world dedicated and established as a colossal museum - a storehouse of antiquities and relics from the ancient histories of both men and aliens. There, Ian Lotus, a man with his own mysterious past, has chosen to live in deliberate obscurity, harboring secrets that could reshape mankind's destiny.
Now, the impossible has happened the Chronos Ring has been breached - rendered inert - and Lotus finds himself no longer able to hide in the shadows as he becomes the object of a massive interplanetary manhunt. However, his problems go well beyond simply being the most wanted man in the galaxy. There's also the approaching Parsnaak invasion fleet to deal with, as well as an enigmatic, extra-dimensional being of immense power who, for reasons unknown, wants Lotus dead.

Chronos Ring is one of those ''blend'' books between Science Fiction and Fantasy, of which i'm not really abig fan of. I thought the monsters/aliens were a little childishly described in a sort of way. Too easy to come
up with, sort of. But i could overlook that stuff for the overall story. Though the story isn't too serious on itself,
i chuckled while reading some of the pages. There's not so much to say about it honestly, but i guess i thought
it was okay atleast.

EON Chronos Ring Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Earl E Hardman Mikael Naramore VinVid Publishing Books Reviews
I liked the story and how it was told. The "love interest" didn't really fit very well and she seemed to be forgiven for no real reason. I could have done without it but the rest of the story was well above average. Best of all, it's a complete story with a beginning, middle and end. Something rare these days!!!
My rating is actually 4.5 but that's not an option. I loved reading this multi-genre story that is packed with action, adventure and has a great number of surprises twirling in the mix. There is the slightest hint of sex but otherwise a great, clean read. I definitely want to read the next book in this series but love the fact that this one has an excellent ending. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
As the story unfolds Ian reluctant attendant at a gathering to raise money for the museum on the planet Muse suddenly begins a life like James Bond including the beautiful woman. The book turned out to be a page-turner I can't wait until the next book comes out so look forward to it and read this book at your earliest convenience.
This is a fairly quick read that has a bit of science fiction (due to the space ships) and fantasy (the main character has special powers) that proved entertaining. The book was really a tale of two books joined together, as I felt the first half was more serious and the second half had a few scenes that made you want to call “bull.” Regardless, it was entertaining and I went to read the continuing story in book 2. I picked this up for free during a promotion vs. its normal price of $2.99, and I certainly received more than $2.99 worth of entertainment value out of it.
Nothing special about this book, just another mediocre space opera. I probably won't get the next in the series. Enjoyed this quick read and that's enough.
If someone made a late night sci-fi B-movie, this would be the sort of book it would be based on. Characters are two-dimensional (or worse) and there was nothing about it that was captivating. Perhaps good for teenage males, but unless you're really looking for something to kill some time that doesn't require any serious amount of brain power, you can skip this book.
A modernized and updated version of the alien-father hero character, which acknowledges similarity to the mythological heroes one of whose parents would be a deity. Ian has used mythological aliases in the past, such as Gilgamesh. [this is not really spoilers, it's laid out mostly within the available preview, though less succinctly] There is some confusion over who is an ally vs an enemy. The character development is modest, as the novel is mostly action-adventure. Ian is prepared for anything with safe-houses here and there, so the author is obliged to invent greater villains to pressure him.
The Chronos Ring is preposterous technology, so much so I'd classify this more as fantasy than science fiction. The extra-dimensional travels (which are more clear in the sequel) also prompt this classification. But if you accept the near-fantasy elements, it is a not terribly serious but enjoyable read.
[Spoiler] Don't expect too much from the overall plot, which becomes clear only near the end. It is basically a royal sibling feud.
